But here's where it gets interesting: In Marquez's absence, his younger brother, Alex Marquez, stepped up, finishing second in the championship and earning a coveted spot on a factory-spec Ducati with Gresini for 2026. This adds a fascinating dynamic to the mix, don't you think?

Marquez himself acknowledges the challenge ahead. “It will be an interesting 2026 season,” he stated in a MotoGP.com video. He recognizes the growing strength of Aprilia and the emergence of KTM with Acosta. He also acknowledges Honda's improvements and the enduring potential of Yamaha.
He also knows his brother Alex will be a contender and that Pecco's speed is undeniable.
“The goal is to fight for the championship. It must be the goal, and it will be the pressure on my shoulders,” Marquez admits.
Marquez is scheduled to return to action at the official Sepang test from February 3–5.
