Miss Jamaica Organization's Message of Resilience and Healing After Miss Universe Fall
The Miss Jamaica Organization has released a powerful message of resilience and healing on social media, addressing the recent incident involving Gabrielle Henry during the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand. The organization's statement comes in the wake of Henry's public fall from the stage, which occurred just days before the island was hit by Hurricane Melissa.
In a heartfelt post on their official Instagram account, the organization emphasized the importance of unity and support during challenging times. They wrote, "After the storm, we rise with gratitude - for the safety we've been blessed with, for the strength of our community, and for the bonds that bring us together. This is our moment to rebuild with hope, to heal with compassion, and to uplift one another with kindness."
The statement called on people to be intentional and empathetic towards those around them, highlighting the enduring spirit of Jamaica even in the face of adversity. It concluded with a powerful message, "Even in hardship, Jamaica's spirit remains unshaken - we endure, we unite, and we shine. Welcome, December - a month of healing, courage, and moving forward."
This message comes after the organization provided an update on Henry's health. Henry, who was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) for a minimum of seven days, is currently being cared for by her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, and mother, Maureen Henry, at the hospital. According to Dr. Henry-Samuels, Henry's condition is improving, but she is still receiving specialized medical attention.
The organization also requested that the public and social media users refrain from sharing negative comments, misinformation, or speculation that could cause further distress to Henry's family. They emphasized their focus on Henry's recovery and the well-being of her loved ones, asking for continued compassion, sensitivity, and privacy during this challenging period.
The incident itself was captured on video, showing Henry posing at the front of the stage in an orange bejeweled gown and high heels before she abruptly fell to the ground. Hours later, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization assured fans that Henry had been rushed to Paolo Rangsit hospital near Bangkok, where she is receiving medical care and is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries.
