A telescope in Chile, with its advanced capabilities, has provided an unprecedented view of the star-forming gases swirling at the center of our galaxy. This remarkable image, released by the European Southern Observatory, showcases a region of cold cosmic gases spanning over 650 light-years, each light-year equating to nearly 9.7 trillion kilometers.
The picture, captured by the ALMA antenna network in the Atacama Desert, one of Earth's driest regions, reveals clouds of gas and dust surrounding a supermassive black hole at the galactic center. It is the largest image ever taken by ALMA, offering an extraordinary level of detail.
